We have always wanted to visit the Philippines and as it started to become a reality we were very excited! When it came to searching for flights there was only one option on our minds, PHILIPPINE AIRLINES (PAL). 1. CONVENIENCE
Not only is Philippine Airlines incredibly easy to book with, they are the only direct flight airliner from the United States to the gorgeous islands of the Philippines via Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO) & Seattle (SEA) as of 2020. Due to our non-stop service, we didn't have to worry about layovers or running through an airport to catch a connecting flight, and we didn't have to extend to 36 hours of travel time from Los Angeles to the Philippines. Ultimately we were able to take a direct flight (not to mention the inaugural flight) from LAX to Cebu for a total of 17 hours in the air. That is what we call convenient!
2. COMFORT & AMENITIES
When flying internationally, you want to be as comfortable as possible because the moment you step foot off the plane you want to be well rested and ready to explore your destination. Thanks to Philippine Airlines, we were able to fly business class round trip from Los Angeles (LAX) to Cebu (CEB)and then Manila (MNL) to Los Angeles (LAX), which was a life saver. 17 hours may sound daunting when it comes to time on an aircraft but spending those extra dollars $$$ on comfort is worth every penny. The flight to Cebu was incredibly spacious and comfortable with ample leg room, which was appreciated since we are both over 6ft tall. We enjoyed our dinner with a few cocktails, watched a movie or two and then reclined our seats for a much needed slumber. Before we knew it, neither of us remembered the last 10 hours of our flight because we comfortably passed out, giving us much needed rest before our 12-day adventure in the Philippines. Exiting the aircraft feeling little to no jet lag amplified our entire trip and it's all because of how insanely comfortable our flight was. Another thing to note is that Business Class flyers on Philippine Airlines are presented with a chic amenity kit that features an eau de toilette, body lotion and lip balm which you can pamper yourself with during your flight.
3. THE STAFF
During our time in the Philippines we were fortunate to interact with many locals who were some of the warmest and most hospitable people we've ever met. We were first introduced to this world class hospitality during our flight to the Philippines. While stepping onto the aircraft we were instantly greeted with welcoming smiles, warm greetings, and impeccable service - which set the tone for the rest of our travels in the Philippines and brought new meaning to Philippine Airlines slogan, "The Heart of the Filipino"!

You're probably asking, how do you entertain yourself during a long haul, 17 hour flight? Well, Philippine Airlines has you covered with up to 300 hours of the latest movies, TV shows, music and games. The best part? It's ALL FREE and you can enjoy every minute of it from the comfort of your seat! We definitely took full advantage of the in-flight entertainment that PAL had to offer, so much so that when we began our descent into Cebu (CEB), we were bummed it was coming to an end. When an airline can get you there safely, comfortably AND entertained, they have done their job right.
5. A GATEWAY TO PARADISE
Out of all the places we've traveled, the Philippines is by far the most gorgeous country with such a rich history to discover. Every Island you visit has a different culture yet all are so proud to be Filipino. The beaches are unlike anything you will ever encounter in your life. The locals are some of the happiest, most welcoming people we have ever met and everyone greeted us with open arms. The Philippines is a breathtaking country and everyday feels as though you are living in paradise. If the pictures below don't make you want to start planning your trip then we don't know what will.
