After the season, Will and James talk with PARADE Magazine about what their fandom did & didn’t prepare them for, the intent behind their strategic choices, & everything to know about that finish line proposal.

From Will and James’ strategic gameplay and knowledge of past seasons, to Hung and Chee’s impeccable teamwork and uplifting attitudes, to Riley and Maddison’s drive for competition and social skills, these three teams kept viewers on their toes until the very end.

In the end, after 12 legs, 11 countries, 17 cities, and over 33 thousand miles, Will and James win The Amazing Race, becoming the third same-sex couple to win the competition.  In the first part of my interview with them, we talk about their win and the long wait to tell their family and friends about it as well as Will’s proposal to James at the finish line.

Dreams do come true. Just ask James Wallington.  Ever since he was twelve he has been a fan of the CBS reality competition show, The Amazing Race. In an interview with CBS, Wallington said, “I remember watching episode one of the first season and saying to myself ‘I’m going to race one day.’”
